I am Alastair Somerville and I facilitate workshops on subjects ranging from senses, emotions, codesign, behavioural design and transcendence. My background is in accessibile design, particularly for museums, but in terms of human perception. The key question for me has been:-
How do people, whatever their physical or cognitive capacities, find and understand information that benefits them and the people and communities they care for?
Hope in our hands is a project to extend those ideas of perception, care and compassion into new areas. Aspiration, imagination, autonoesis, awe and transformation are often ignored in design as they are so huge. Humans are much vaster in their capabilities than many organisations wish to contemplate. We make people feel smaller than our technologies.
However, we need hope now more than ever. The workshops I am now designing and facilitating are based on small acts of sharing (teaching and learning) to build up capacities, within indviduals, communities and companies, of hope for the future.
Hope in our hands is all new and I am currently designing the workshops. Contact me now so I can email you more information as things come together
